The company supports a variety of end users, from large scale coastal defence projects to domestic and residential projects. Committed to sustainability, Suttle Stone Quarries operates a Stone and Recycling Depot in Poole that recycles inert waste into high‑quality recycled aggregates.
This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Worth Matravers for a HGV Technician. The primary responsibilities include:
- Perform scheduled inspections and routine maintenance on HGVs to detect faults or defects.
- Identify and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems, carrying out effective repairs where required.
- Undertake servicing and preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer specifications.
- Prepare commercial vehicles for MOT testing in accordance with DVSA standards.
- Accurately complete all required job cards, reports, and related documentation on time.
- Keep detailed records of tasks completed, including parts fitted and labour time.
- Keep up to date with current industry practices, tools, and emerging technologies.
- Conduct road tests to confirm that repairs and servicing have been successfully completed.
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times, ensuring a clean and safe workshop environment.
- Support colleagues within the workshop whenever necessary.
Requirements:
- In‑depth understanding of HGV systems and components, including automatic and manual gearboxes, along with proven repair methods.
- Practical experience working with emissions control systems such as DPF and AdBlue.
- NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or an equivalent recognised motor vehicle qualification.
- Proven experience working as an HGV Technician or in a similar role.
- Full, valid UK driving licence (Category B or B+E).
- Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding ability, with at least one year’s hands‑on experience repairing heavy vehicles to a high standard.
- Category C or C+E licence desirable, though not essential.
- Ability to successfully complete a CRB check and/or Local Police Vetting if required.
- Good knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures.
- High level of accuracy, strong problem‑solving capability, and a commitment to maintaining excellent workmanship standards.
- Adaptable and flexible approach to duties and working conditions.
- Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Comfortable working under pressure and confident in making sound decisions.
