As the Senior Project Officer, you will be embedded within East Lothian Council, working in partnership with external organisations and across council departments to align policy aims and identify and develop opportunities for investment in active travel. You will support the planning and delivery of active travel interventions and provide expert support and guidance to ensure that walking, wheeling, and cycling are integrated into strategies, programmes, and projects.
- Contract: Fixed term until end of March 2026 with a likelihood of 12 months extension, subject to funding
- Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow hubs, and East Lothian Council offices with flexibility to work from home part of the time.
- Full Time 37.5 hours per week β flexible working arrangements available
- Salary: Β£32,145 per annum (pro-rata for part-time hours)
This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans as part of the Connected Neighbourhoods team, working with East Lothian Council to develop and deliver active travel infrastructure and support active travel policies for planning and pipeline projects.
The role involves working within the geographical area, with regular travel expected to East Lothian Council offices and either Edinburgh or Glasgow hubs.
About you
You should have experience in at least one of the following: transport planning, land use planning, urban design, traffic engineering, or sustainable transport project delivery.
You will be an experienced project manager able to work collaboratively with multiple partners and stakeholders.
You should be able to work independently, make decisions with minimal supervision, and have excellent report-writing skills.
Knowledge of the funding context for active travel in Scotland is also required.
