We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager with a strong mechanical background to lead the mechanical delivery on a mission-critical data centre project in Germany. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a high-profile project in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management & Delivery
- Oversee all mechanical construction activities, including HVAC systems, chilled water systems, CRAC/CRAH units, pipework, and plant installation.
- Ensure works comply with project specifications, drawings, and contractual obligations.
- Coordinate closely with electrical teams and other trades for integrated M&E delivery.
- Team Leadership
- Manage and supervise site supervisors, foremen, and subcontractors.
- Allocate resources effectively and monitor workforce productivity.
- Provide technical guidance and resolve on-site issues promptly.
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits.
- Ensure all method statements, risk assessments, and permits are in place.
- Planning & Reporting
- Develop short-term lookahead programs aligned with the master schedule.
- Track progress against milestones and report to the Project Manager.
- Maintain accurate site documentation and progress records.
- Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with client representatives, consultants, and other contractors.
- Attend coordination meetings and provide updates on mechanical works.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years on data centre or mission-critical projects.
- Previous experience with an M&E contractor.
- Proven ability to manage teams and subcontractors on-site.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems for data centres (cooling systems, chilled water, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH units).
- Familiarity with German building regulations and EU standards (preferred).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, VCA) advantageous.
Other
- Fluent in English; German language skills highly desirable.
- Willingness to work on-site in Germany (10 on / 4 off rotation).
