Project Details and Duration

The project is a substation next to a much larger project run by another company, which includes a large data center and an EV battery factory. The substation is a 400/132 KV substation. The team has just mobilized the site. Work currently involves getting the equipment in place for overhead lighting connections, followed by civils work. This is a six-month contract with the possibility of an extension.

Role and Responsibilities

The work currently is heavy civil work, and the role is "a little bit of everything". Once the work begins, it will be a typical Project Engineer role. The ideal candidate should be able to coordinate across the project, look at two or three work packages, and see the bigger picture—almost thinking like an assistant project manager. The ideal candidate may need to have been a Senior Project Engineer in the past.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • National Safety Instructions (NSI)
  • Earthing Control Person (ECP)
  • Earthing Application Person (EAP)
  • LVAP

The candidate does not need to have worked directly for National Grid, but they need to have worked on National Grid projects and built up those qualifications.

Working Conditions

The working week is 45 hours, predominantly Monday to Friday. There are no planned evenings or weekends. The general start and finish times are 7:30 to 5:00. The role is site-based.
