About the role: An ICP/Developer client of mine is looking for a Senior/Principal P&C Design Engineer. This will involve leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and specialist suppliers to deliver contestable 33kV and 132kV connection designs. Ensure technical compliance, programme certainty and commercially efficient solutions for ICP projects. With a key focus on renewable energy (BESS/solar), this position would ensure the successful candidate is heavily involved in the drive for net-zero in the UK.
Package:
- Salary - Up to 90k
- 5k car allowance
- 10% annual bonus
- 28 days annual leave (+ bank holidays)
- Location - Liverpool (minimum of 4 days per week in the office)
Selected Key Responsibilities:
- Lead FEED and detailed design workstreams for Protection & Control systems across transmission and renewable energy projects
- Develop and review interface designs, protection schemes, and control philosophies
- Ensure quality assurance and timely delivery of design packages and technical bids
- Undertake site visits and non-intrusive surveys as part of design or site support activities
- Review protection settings, relay coordination, and scheme logic
- Coordinate with back-office engineers, sub-contractors, and suppliers
- Support tendering activities and contribute to technical offers
- Identify and manage technical risks, ensuring compliance with CDM and safety standards
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team capability development
- Maintain strong client relationships and support business development
Key Skills and Experience:
- Proven UK experience delivering P&C design up to 132kV
- ICP, DNO or iDNO background
- Strong background being a client-facing engineer
- Expertise in EHV substations and P&C design
