Senior / Lead Project Manager - HV Substations & Cables (132kV to 400kV)
A growing HV electrical engineering contractor is building out its Scottish operation and is appointing Project Managers to deliver its 2027 programme. Work is already secured for Q1 2027 with more in the pipeline.
This is a genuine build, not a backfill. You would be among the first senior delivery appointments into Scotland, with real influence over how the team is structured as it grows.
The role
Delivering HV substation projects at 132kV up to 400kV, including cabling, GIS switchgear installation and grid connections, from conception through onsite delivery, installation and commissioning.
Commercial ownership
Full responsibility for your project’s commercial performance, working alongside the commercial team to monitor cash flow. Tracking material and labour costs to deliver against original target spend. Providing accurate variation and monthly claim information for valuations. Contract administration under JCT and NEC forms. Assessing labour and subcontractor requirements, and vetting subcontractors so they are engaged appropriately by fixed price order or contract.
Technical and design
Reviewing engineering and technical drawings and taking responsibility for the approval process and release into construction. Working with external suppliers to bring initial design concepts through to installation ready drawings, and reviewing technical detail. Ensuring site teams are always working to the correct revision. Procuring plant and equipment in line with specification and client requirements. Providing engineering and technical support to the delivery team.
Team leadership
Managing and developing your site management team, setting clear objectives and target dates, and making sure site teams are working efficiently. Monthly reviews with the Head of Operations on team performance and development.
Client and reporting
Regular contact with the client through online meetings and on-site discussions on progress and upcoming works. Weekly progress reporting. Pre-start meetings and design coordination. Coordination with BIM, design, fabrication, assembly, quality and project control. A weekly internal project meeting to keep critical path items moving.
Completion
Preparation of O&M manuals, as-built mark-ups and compilation of all associated certification.

What is on offer
- £80,000 to £90,000 depending on level, plus package
