The Role

Sustainable Talent are working exclusively with an ICP signed up to a long‑term framework with a client who distributes, delivers and maintains electricity supplies across the North East, Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

As part of this framework, the ICP is looking for Project Engineers at Junior, Engineer and Senior levels. The projects range in size and complexity from small network extensions to major substation works, underground cable and overhead line projects costing from a few thousand to several million pounds.

Applicants should be able to take initiative, lead the engineering management of projects from conception through to completion, apply engineering judgement and seek specialist input where appropriate. Project engineers will manage the engineering design phase with a design team, prepare work packages/input to contract documents, and manage projects to a fixed timeline and cost. Projects will vary from large scale single‑site works to multi‑location extensive programmes over extended periods.

The complexity will depend on an individual’s experience and skill background, e.g., overhead line works, substation works or voltage level.

Package

• Salary – 35k‑75k (dependent on experience)
• Working conditions – Hybrid (split across home, office and site)

Selected Skills/Experience

• Familiarity with electricity distribution or transmission systems through previous experience, or a utility project management background
• Transferrable skills from other suitable backgrounds such as power generation, military engineering or mechanical engineering will be considered
• Key attributes: awareness of industry‑based Health and Safety legislation and standards, strong environmental awareness, and good working knowledge of the ESQCR Regulations 2002
• Site visits and some supervision may be involved; a clean driving licence is essential
