We are currently recruiting for an experienced Construction Estimator to join a growing and well-established contractor based in Liverpool. This is an excellent opportunity for an intermediate to senior-level estimator looking to work within a collaborative and fast-paced environment delivering a wide range of construction and M&E projects across the North West.

The business specialises in Mechanical, Electrical and Construction services across sectors including education, healthcare, housing, retail and leisure, delivering projects from concept through to completion. Projects will typically range from £500k to £1million in value, with a strong focus on small works and refurbishment schemes where M&E packages form a significant part of the overall delivery.

The Role

As Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates across a range of construction and M&E-led projects. You will work closely with operational teams, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure commercially viable tenders are submitted within deadlines. This role would suit someone who is commercially aware, detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple tenders simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
  • Pricing construction and M&E small works projects
  • Sending enquiries and obtaining subcontractor/supplier quotations
  • Analysing project risks and value engineering opportunities
  • Producing take-offs and bills of quantities
  • Liaising with project managers, commercial teams and clients
  • Assisting with tender adjudications and handovers to delivery teams
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers

Requirements

  • Previous experience as an Estimator within construction, refurbishment or M&E sectors
  • Ability to price projects ranging from £500k - £1m
  • Good understanding of M&E packages and principal contractor responsibilities
  • Experience pricing small works and refurbishment projects
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office

Desirable

  • Experience working for an M&E contractor or principal contractor
  • Knowledge of public sector projects including education or healthcare
  • Quantity Surveying or Construction-related qualification
