We are recruiting an in-house Accountant to join a growing construction group. This is a hands-on role, managing the day-to-day finance function across multiple companies. You will work closely with commercial and operational teams, handling all transactional finance tasks, including purchase and sales ledger, payroll, VAT/CIS, bank reconciliations, and month-end reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Process supplier and customer invoices, manage payments, and maintain ledgers
- Run payroll and process employee expenses, ensuring PAYE compliance
- Prepare and submit VAT and CIS returns, reconcile ledgers
- Reconcile bank and control accounts, monitor cashflow
- Maintain accurate P&L, balance sheet, and management reporting
- Assist with project cost tracking and monthly management accounts
- Prepare year-end accounts and liaise with external accountants
- Maintain accurate records and audit trails for all financial transactions
- Support directors and project teams with financial queries and reporting
- Work hands-on with accounting systems (Xero, Excel, invoice approval tools)
- Previous experience as an Accountant in construction, contracting, or similar project-based environment
- Strong knowledge of VAT, CIS, payroll, and PAYE
- Confident using Xero or similar accounting software
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment and across multiple companies
