Role Overview

The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical building services projects. Working closely with the pre‑construction and commercial teams, you will ensure all tenders are compliant, profitable, and delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed electrical estimates for projects including power distribution, lighting, fire and security systems, LV/MV systems, and associated building services packages.
  • Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities to determine project scope.
  • Obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring competitive and accurate pricing.
  • Develop clear, structured tender submissions including cost breakdowns, value-engineering options, and risk assessments.
  • Identify commercial and technical risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and estimating teams to refine bids.
  • Keep up-to-date with market rates, labour costs, regulations, and supply chain developments.
  • Support post-tender analysis and continuous improvement of estimating processes.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in electrical estimating within M&E or building services contracting.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and MS Office (Excel).
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of UK electrical standards, regulations, and health & safety requirements is desirable.
