DATA CENTRE EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL Senior Mechanical Engineer Location: Blyth, United Kingdom Employment Type: Full-time Working Arrangement: On-site Sector: Data Centres / Major Construction Projects About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the project team on a major data centre development in Blyth, UK. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will take responsibility for the technical delivery and coordination of mechanical works, working closely with the MEP Lead, client, contractors and wider project team to ensure a fully integrated and high-quality solution. This is a site-based senior role involving technical coordination, subcontractor management, commissioning, installation and project delivery through to final handover. Key Responsibilities * Manage relevant client communications and attend client meetings. * Lead and coordinate a team of Mechanical Package Managers. * Oversee the technical submittal and RFI process. * Develop, review and coordinate commissioning scripts for mechanical assets and systems. * Coordinate mechanical works with Electrical and CSA contractors to ensure all services are fully integrated. * Prepare and review method statements and risk assessments for construction activities. * Coordinate and sequence mechanical installation activities, including pipework, to meet project programme requirements. * Support the management of mechanical installation works, ensuring consistently high standards of workmanship. * Monitor and manage mechanical works through to commissioning, completion and final handover. * Identify and resolve technical and coordination issues across mechanical and multidisciplinary works. * Assist with documenting, assessing and costing changes to work scopes. * Support the preparation of monthly valuations and final accounts. * Drive O&M completion and ensure all required vendor and project documentation is collected and maintained. * Work closely with the project team to monitor progress, programme and quality throughout the project lifecycle. * Support commissioning and handover activities to ensure mechanical systems are delivered safely and in accordance with project requirements. Requirements * Proven experience delivering large-scale construction projects. * Data centre experience is essential. * Experience within industrial, pharmaceutical, mission-critical or other complex construction environments is highly desirable. * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline. * Strong understanding of mechanical construction, installation and commissioning. * Experience coordinating mechanical subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams. * Strong knowledge of technical submittals, RFIs, method statements and risk assessments. * Excellent organisational, communication and time-management skills. * Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project. * Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, site-based construction environment.
