Quantity Surveyor Location: Blyth, United Kingdom Employment Type: Full-time Working Arrangement: On-site Sector: Data Centres / Major Construction Projects About the Role We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a major data centre project in Blyth, UK. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career Quantity Surveyor to develop their commercial and project management experience while working alongside an experienced team on a large-scale, technically complex construction project. You will support the commercial team with subcontractor management, valuations, variations, cost reporting, procurement and final accounts, gaining valuable exposure across the full project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Support Senior Quantity Surveyors and the commercial team with the management of subcontract packages. Assist with the preparation of tender documentation, work packages, budgets and procurement activities. Analyse and review subcontractor tender returns. Support the preparation and administration of subcontract documentation. Assist with monthly valuations, payments and cost reporting. Assist with the preparation and assessment of variations, claims and other commercial matters. Monitor project costs and maintain accurate commercial records. Assist with cost/value reporting and cash flow forecasts. Support the preparation and agreement of external valuations. Assist with subcontractor final accounts and commercial close-out. Liaise with subcontractors, clients, designers and internal project teams. Ensure commercial documentation is accurate and completed within required timescales. Identify potential commercial issues and escalate them to the Senior Quantity Surveyor. Work collaboratively with the wider project team to support successful project delivery. Develop knowledge of construction methods, measurement and commercial management. Requirements * Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline. * 2–5 years' relevant Quantity Surveying experience within a construction environment. * Strong interest in developing a career in Quantity Surveying and commercial management. * Good understanding of construction processes and terminology. * Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills. * Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities. * Good communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. * Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. * Familiarity with CostX, Buildsoft or similar software is advantageous. * Experience with a main contractor or data centre project is advantageous but not essential.
