Looking to lead and shape a health & safety function within a purpose driven organisation, with the autonomy to make a genuine impact? Sustainable Futures Group (SFG) has been exclusively engaged to recruit a Head of Health & Safety on a 12 Month FTC for a well established housing association operating across multiple service areas and workplace environments. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced health & safety professional to drive strategy, influence culture, and provide visible leadership across a diverse and evolving organisation. The organisation is going through a period of positive transformation and is seeking an individual who can bring a collaborative, pragmatic, and forward thinking approach to workplace health & safety.

About the Role

Reporting into the senior leadership team, the Head of Health & Safety will take ownership of the organisation's corporate/workplace health & safety function, supporting a wide range of office, operational, and service based environments.

  • Leading the development and delivery of the organisation's health & safety strategy, policies, and management systems.
  • Driving a proactive and positive safety culture through engagement, communication, and visible leadership.
  • Acting as the organisation's competent person for workplace health & safety matters.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to senior leaders, managers, and operational teams.
  • Supporting continual improvement initiatives and embedding best practice across the organisation.
  • Leading on health & safety governance, reporting, audits, and compliance activity.
  • Building strong internal relationships to influence and support operational performance.
  • Chairing relevant health & safety forums and contributing at senior leadership level.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience within a senior health & safety leadership role.
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent level qualification).
  • Chartered membership of IOSH (or working towards) desirable.
  • Experience within housing, facilities, care, public sector, property or similarly diverse operational environments.
  • Strong strategic capability combined with a practical and hands on approach.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and driving cultural change.
