Sustainable Energy First are currently seeking a Business Development Manager to lead and manage the Business Development Executives, driving performance, motivation, and strategic growth initiatives. The role will focus on developing and implementing strategies to identify new business opportunities, nurture relationships with corporate large energy users, and ensure the team delivers high-quality appointments for the corporate sales team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and motivate Business Development Executive teams in the UK and South Africa to achieve monthly and quarterly targets
- Develop and implement strategies to drive profitable sales revenue through effective lead generation and appointment setting
- Monitor team performance, providing coaching and support to ensure KPIs are met
- Maintain and oversee accurate CRM data to support campaigns and sales pipeline management
- Collaborate with marketing to leverage campaigns and ensure alignment with business development objectives
- Identify opportunities for upselling/cross-selling and promote additional products to maximise revenue
- Report on team performance, pipeline health, and key metrics to senior leadership
- Ensure compliance with company standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Experience in the energy industry
- Proven experience in managing business development or sales teams, ideally across multiple regions
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
- Excellent negotiation, influencing, and communication skills
- Ability to work strategically while maintaining attention to operational detail
- Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in B2B sales or lead generation environments
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work collaboratively across departments
