- Maintain a robust financial control environment, including approvals, reconciliations, delegated authorities and audit trails.
- Manage cashflow, weekly cash reporting, forecasting and runway visibility, identifying risks early and proposing mitigations.
- Create annual budgets, rolling forecasts and variance analysis that reflect the current operating plan.
- Oversee day‑to‑day finance operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, payroll coordination and banking using QuickBooks and third‑party providers.
- Lead statutory accounts preparation, audit management and UK financial compliance, ensuring filings are completed accurately and on time.
- Ensure appropriate accounting treatment of costs, projects and contracts in a pre‑revenue, R&D‑led environment.
- Track R&D expenditure by project and cost centre, supporting capitalisation policy, grant readiness and R&D tax relief claims.
- Provide clear financial insight and decision support to the CEO and leadership team to improve cost discipline and operational outcomes.
- Own finance systems, data integrity, chart of accounts and reporting structures within QuickBooks.

- Plan finance across concurrent R&D and commercialisation projects, ensuring project‑level budgets, funding sources, milestones, cost allocation and reporting disciplines remain clear as the business scales.
- Support financial governance, board reporting and active management of financial risk as the business continues to scale.
