We are looking for motivated graduate level / Associate Consultants who are passionate about helping companies to improve their ESG / Sustainability performance. (Please note that this is one of several roles available – please only apply for one).

JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE:Associate ESG Consultant

REPORTS TO:Senior Consultant

We offer you an opportunity to start a career in environmental and sustainability consultancy, working on challenging, interesting and impactful projects, with a diverse range of global companies looking to realise ESG opportunities as a key value creation driver for mid-market sized companies.

You’ll join a fast-paced team at the forefront of ESG advisory, combining sustainability expertise with data-driven decision making. This role offers exposure to senior stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and tangible client impact from day one.

We have three offices located in London Waterloo, Walton-on-Thames (Surrey) and Brighton. Our ESG Consultancy team is based at our London Waterloo office.

EDUCATION

  • You will have a relevant degree, ideally research based. Having a Masters will be advantageous.
  • A levels (or equivalent) in relevant subjects, with grades that reflect a high level of capability.
  • GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English at level 6 or above (equivalent to grade B or above).

SKILLS

  • The successful applicant will be passionate about Sustainability with a commercially driven mindset.
  • You will have strong research skills, across university-level research projects.
  • You will have a high level of competence in MS Excel, data analysis and AI, supported by a good working knowledge of the rest of the MS Office Suite, in particular Outlook and Word.
  • You will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and a naturally analytical way of thinking.
  • You will have a high level of written communication skills and be able to produce written documents of a professional quality.
  • You will have excellent communication skills, and be able to work collaboratively.
  • You will be confident talking to third party stakeholders at all levels within an organisation.
  • Fluency in additional languages, particularly European languages, will be advantageous.

EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant voluntary, internship or paid work experience in a business setting. Sectors may include Consulting, Finance, Law, Engineering, Tech, or Data Science.
  • Experience or academic exposure to a specific ESG-related topic area (such as Water, Plastics & Packaging, Biodiversity/Nature, Supply Chain, Human Rights, Customer Relationships, or Social Impact).

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The role will include but not be limited to:

Client Delivery Support

  • Supporting the Sustainability Strategy & Advisory team on various client deliverables, including ESG Maturity assessments, Due Diligence projects, Sustainability strategy projects, Net Zero assessments, and Impact reporting.
  • Analysing and interpreting sustainability data to create actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Conducting stakeholder interviews and supporting on project work.
  • Building and presenting high-quality slide decks, client reports, and workshop materials.

Assisting with other teams within the ESG division, where needed (e.g. climate-risk assessments, corporate reporting, legislation compliance, and conducting ESG research).

ESG Maturity Assessment (Scoring) Portal

  • Support the ESG Maturity Service Line Lead with the ongoing management and maintenance of our proprietary ESG Maturity Assessment tool, and accompanying in-built Regulatory Compliance tool. The candidate will be responsible for managing, updating and improving this tool.
  • Undertake review of internal client data and support with benchmarking of client ESG scores (by Sector / Theme).
  • Conduct ESG framework mapping and analysis to strengthen our processes and methodologies. This includes researching the intersection of existing ESG frameworks and standards against Sustainable Advantage’s scoring framework.

Data & AI Integration

  • Undertake the collection, analysis, and reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics for our clients.
  • Use technical skills to analyse datasets and review data, metrics & KPIs (for clients, competitors and wider industry).
  • Use AI tools to efficiently analyse ESG datasets and benchmark sector performance.
  • Explore the use of emerging technologies to enhance consulting workflows and insights.
  • Tracking and analysing trends and developments in the EU sustainability landscape, including policies and regulation (EU Taxonomy, CSRD, SFDR) and global voluntary reporting frameworks (SBTI, B-Corp, TCFD, etc).
  • Support preparation of market research, sector insights, thought leadership, and webinars.

LOCATION

The position is based in London Waterloo, UK, with a flexible hybrid working arrangement. Presence in the office is expected at least three days per week to foster team collaboration and client engagement.

PACKAGE

Salary of up to £28,000 dependent on experience, plus employee benefits which include private medical insurance, pension, life assurance based on 3x annual salary and a cycle to work scheme (all benefits are subject to eligibility criteria).
