Management Accountant
Β£40,000 - Β£45,000 + bens | Full-Time, Permanent | Slough
We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established, global manufacturing business for a commercially focused Management Accountant to support the financial performance of the business.
This is a great opportunity to act as a business partner across a UK operation, providing accurate financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting and operational analysis to help drive efficiency, profitability and informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and KPI dashboards
- Producing detailed manufacturing performance reports and variance analyses
- Analysing financial results against budgets, forecasts and operational targets
- Presenting financial information and recommendations to management teams
- Analysing production costs, labour utilisation and overhead absorption
- Monitoring inventory valuation and ensuring accurate accounting of raw materials, WIP and finished goods
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives by identifying cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies
- Supporting bi-annual stock counts and cycle count programmes
- Ensuring accurate reporting of inventory provisions, obsolete stock and slow-moving inventory
- Supporting the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts for manufacturing operations
- Monitoring performance against budgets and forecasts, and recommending corrective action where required
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, company policies and internal controls
- Assisting with month-end and year-end close processes
- Supporting internal and external audits
- Contributing to the development and enhancement of financial systems and reporting processes
- Preparing and filing UK, European entity VAT returns
What We're Looking For
- Part Qualified Accountant, actively studying ACCA, CIMA or ACA
- Minimum 3-5 years of management accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management and manufacturing operations
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics or similar
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities
- Excellent understanding of standard costing and variance analysis
- Strong commercial awareness and business partnering skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to operational stakeholders
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
