Southern Water is recruiting for the role of Enterprise Architect – Waste. The Enterprise Architect – Waste guides business and technology leaders on digital and business strategy, supporting coherent enterprise architecture across business, information, applications, technology and operating models. The role also shapes roadmaps, standards and governance to help teams deliver future-focused change.

What you’ll do

  • Identify disruptive forces, trends and market changes that affect enterprise strategy.
  • Translate business strategy into architectural roadmaps and provide visibility of execution risks and dependencies.
  • Engage senior business leaders, product owners and IT leaders with context-specific architectural advice.
  • Lead and mentor architects across domains, supporting shared principles and cross-team conflict resolution.
  • Develop business architecture artefacts and diagnostic deliverables to support investment decisions.
  • Define and apply architectures, standards, patterns and guardrails for delivery teams.

What they’re looking for

  • Extensive experience in enterprise architecture in a mature architecture practise.
  • Experience working across multiple industries in an architecture role.
  • Experience using IT data and external insight to support decision making and communication.
  • Strong knowledge of business models, operating models and technology ecosystems.
  • Deep understanding of cloud, SaaS, APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures and integration patterns.
  • Strong awareness of emerging technologies, innovation practices and digital transformation trends.
  • Experience working within complex stakeholder landscapes across business and technology.
  • Desirable TOGAF, BCS or equivalent architecture qualifications, plus cloud architecture certifications in Azure.

  • The role focuses on maximising the value of existing technology investments and ensuring future technology choices meet business needs.
  • It works with CIO and IT leadership on EA operating models and governance mechanisms.
  • It uses roadmaps, standards and guardrails to give product and delivery teams clear architectural boundaries.
