What you’ll do
- Lead and develop engineers to deliver high-quality, secure and reliable software solutions.
- Plan and oversee delivery activity to achieve predictable and effective outcomes.
- Design and build scalable, maintainable software while remaining an active hands-on engineer.
- Coach and mentor engineers through feedback and structured development plans.
- Embed quality, testing and security into day-to-day engineering practices.
- Use delivery metrics, operational insights and observability data to drive continuous improvement.
- Manage operational readiness, incident response processes and technical debt to keep systems resilient.
- Work with product, architecture and business stakeholders to remove blockers and deliver customer value.
What they’re looking for
- Significant hands-on Java engineering experience is required.
- Experience of building and operating Spring Boot microservices is required.
- A strong understanding of modern software architecture principles is required.
- Experience leading engineering teams and developing people through coaching and mentoring is required.
- Knowledge of test-driven development, quality engineering practices and automated testing approaches is required.
- Experience with CI/CD practices, version control workflows and software delivery pipelines is required.
- Understanding of secure software development, operational readiness and observability practices is required.
- Ability to balance technical, commercial and delivery considerations while influencing stakeholders is required.
