The Community Neurological Rehabilitation Service (CNRS) is looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 3 Rehabilitation Support Worker (RSW) to join our friendly, dedicated and dynamic team working in rehabilitation. We treat people in their own home who have had a stroke, ABI or TBI in the High Weald, Lewes and Havens (HWLH) area of East Sussex. We are looking for candidates who like working with people and are reliable, flexible and adaptable in their work. Previous experience as a Therapy Technician, Assistant or similar is desirable. Our ideal candidates will enjoy problem solving, have excellent communication skills, and want to work in the community within a supportive multidisciplinary team, helping to implement timely and person-centred rehabilitation.
The posts can be full time or part time and the service currently covers 8-5, Mon - Friday. Please note: Due to recent changes in UK immigration and visa rules, this role may not be eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Main duties of the job
- Your main responsibilities will be to follow a therapy treatment plan, supporting patients with exercises programmes, functional mobility and functional tasks.
- Your work will be directed and supervised by qualified Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists and you will also work alongside our Nursing colleagues and Therapy Practitioners.
- You will take part mainly in one to one work with patients, but may also assist Therapists in working with patients that need extra support.
- You will be expected to have some basic IT knowledge so that you can document in the electronic patient notes.
- Relevant therapy and rehabilitation experience is preferred, although training will be given via completion of specific therapy competencies and further guidance as required.

Job responsibilities

The service is continually developing and improving to meet the needs of our patients and commissioners. Applicants should have experience of delivering care and/or rehabilitation to adults and older people with various needs. The post holders will be required to support service developments and show flexibility when adapting to change.
The successful candidates will:
- Assist the Physio, O.T. and SaLT staff in the treatment of specific patients.
- Take patients' observations.
- Have their own delegated patient caseload and clinical duties.
- Supervise exercise programmes and practise activities of daily living under the guidance of a therapist.
- Treat patients according to protocols, monitoring their progression and making minor alterations to their treatment programmes as required.
- Work without direct supervision, reporting back patient progress and informing the therapist of any problems.
Person Specification
- Qualification: GCSE Maths and English or equivalent NVQ3 or equivalent level of knowledge.
- Skill: Excellent verbal communication and ability to build rapport. Able to give instructions to people that can be followed and easily interpreted. Ability to prioritise and plan delegated work from a variety of sources, meet deadlines and perform effectively under pressure. Ability to work with others and independently. Ability to understand work related boundaries and refer matters of importance to a senior colleague. Knowledge of a range of work procedures and practices gained through experience. Basic level of theoretical knowledge relevant to clinical setting.
- Experience: At least 12 months experience of working in a caring environment, either in health, social or voluntary services. Experience of working within a rehabilitation or therapy setting.
- Other: Ability to drive and access to a car.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
£24,937 to £26,598 a year per annum pro rata.
