We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Senior Mental Health Nurse to enhance our Older Persons Mental Health (OPMH) inpatient leadership team at Gosport War Memorial Hospital. The successful candidate will join a supportive inpatient environment that has undergone significant investment over the past 5 years including a full refurbishment. Alongside this, the teams have developed a culture of quality improvement to embed evidence-based models of care.
We are a supportive and compassionate team who are driven to continually develop our inpatient services and strive to provide the highest standards of patient-centred care to promote recovery, dignity, and choice in a least restrictive environment. Candidates can expect a rewarding role in a team who are committed to your support and development. The successful candidate will be an RMN or RNA with at least two years post-registration experience and demonstrate a passion for OPMH.
All staff are asked to work flexibly across a range of day and night shifts across the OPMH assessment wards providing care to older people living with dementia and functional mental health diagnosis. In return for your flexibility and commitment, we can offer excellent training and personal development support. There may also be opportunities to work in other parts of the service.
Main duties of the jobThe Senior Nurse in Inpatient OPMH Services is a core member of the ward and leadership team. The Senior Nurse will act as a 'named nurse' for a specific group of inpatients on the ward as required and take responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised care for patients and their carers. Recognising the valuable and essential role that carers play and ensuring that as a team, patients are involved and remain at the centre of all their care. They will be a role model in their nursing and leadership role, promoting a culture of compassionate leadership. They will take an active role/lead in the admission/discharge facilitation. They will include participation in patient flow to and from the ward and support with discharge facilitation, engaging with the multi-professional team both within HIOW and system partners.

- Successful completion of preceptorship programme
- Minimum of two years relevant post qualification experience

Salary: £38,682 to £46,580 a year. Please note for part-time hours the salary will be pro rata.
