We are currently seeking a talented and passionate Senior Lead GP to join our dynamic team at our surgery, which is part of Sussex Primary Care, a larger network that provides support, collaboration, and development opportunities. We are a friendly, forward‑thinking GP surgery with a supportive multidisciplinary team, including three GPs, an ACP Clinical Lead, ANP, Paramedic Practitioner, Prescribing Lead Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician, supported by a brilliant nursing and admin team. We use SystmOne, offer 15‑minute appointments, and provide two protected GP Clinical Lead admin sessions per week to support leadership, quality improvement and mentoring (pro‑rata). The practice is currently going through an exciting period of transition, with plans to implement total triage to improve patient access and streamline workflows. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated GP leader to help shape our future direction and be part of a progressive, supportive team delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
We offer flexible working arrangements and strong support for professional development, ensuring you have the time and resources to lead confidently and make a meaningful impact. At our surgery, we pride ourselves on our innovative approach to healthcare, with a focus on delivering excellent patient care and high standards of clinical governance. As a salaried GP with us, you will have the opportunity to work in a supportive and collaborative environment, with access to the technology and resources to help you provide the highest quality care to your patients. We offer competitive salary packages, flexible working hours, and a range of benefits, including professional development opportunities, pension scheme, and generous holiday entitlement. You will also have the chance to work alongside a diverse and experienced team of healthcare professionals, including nurses, pharmacists, and other specialists, to provide a truly integrated approach to patient care.
The Senior Lead GP plays a pivotal role in ensuring the service we provide is safe, that staff are well supervised, and the service continues to improve the quality of care for patients. If you are passionate about delivering excellent healthcare, and want to be part of a team that values innovation, collaboration, and patient‑centred care, then we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities and Objectives:- Allow GPs to spend more time doing the tasks only they can do – specific types of patients, specific clinical and non‑clinical administration, specific leadership functions, and clinical supervision of ACP Clinical Leads and medics / pharmacists.
- Improve our ability to segment patient care in a more standardised way, and identify how best to utilise our workforce in individual surgeries and across SPC surgeries.
- Improve our ability to recruit and retain salaried GPs in‑practice and reduce our use of locum GPs.
- Improve our ability to recruit and retain experienced ACP Clinical Leads to support and develop the ACP clinical leadership model further, and to clinically supervise and develop ACP and non‑medical prescriber staff.
- Improve our ability to recruit and retain ACPs and ANPs to sit under the ACP clinical leadership model, and be more supported to develop in their ACP and ANP roles and scope of competencies.
- Future‑proof the SPC model – standardisation of roles, processes and systems, centralisation of roles, resilient workforce, improved stewardship of SPC finances.
- Ensure that the practice level leadership and/or management functions are covered by a clinician who is best placed to do so.
