Could you provide spiritual and emotional wellbeing support? Are you able to listen and support to those of all faiths and none? If so, this police Chaplaincy role is for you. Typically, we will need your support for a few hours a week, mainly Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:00-16:00. Volunteering in this role could be at any of our Surrey Police premises and we would mutually agree a location upon acceptance of the role.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference. It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe. As a volunteer Chaplain you will be visiting officers and staff at their work premises to listen to them if they need to talk. You will be able to signpost to additional support if needed and offered advice for this yourself before starting the role. You will also be expected to submit a summarising report of each visit to your Chaplaincy lead, attend quarterly team meetings, and quarterly Pastoral Supervision.

There is also the opportunity to contribute to training on religious matters and spiritual wellbeing.

Skills & Experience

Being a practicing member of your faith group (recognised by Interfaith Network UK) is essential. You must be able to recognise unconscious bias and be able to set them aside to offer the best support for the people you are working to provide the best emotional wellbeing support for. Your ability to listen, be patient and recognise when specialist support is needed is important.
