Chief Constables' Message: We really welcome your interest in joining our Police Force. It is a privilege to lead the teams in Surrey Police and Sussex Police who continuously work selflessly and tirelessly in order to keep people in our counties safe. We are looking for talented and inspirational people who put the needs of the public at the heart of everything that they do and who want to make a difference. If you feel you are that person then we want to hear from you. We wish you all the very best with your application.

The Role & Key Responsibilities: From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference. It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe. We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager with a strong background in critical communications and networking technologies, who can lead, coordinate, and successfully deliver complex technical projects within a structured project and programme environment. The successful candidate will bring proven experience in DS3000 and Integrated Communication Control Systems, alongside a deep understanding of Airwave networking and TETRA technology. This includes familiarity with architecture, encryption, authentication, talk groups, terminals, coverage, and resilience, applied within a controlled and governed delivery framework. This role is a Fixed-Term Contract (FTC) for 18 months.

Skills & Experience: Working in alignment with MSP and PRINCE2 methodologies, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust project governance, planning and controlling delivery across the full lifecycle, and ensuring alignment with wider programme objectives. You will actively manage risks, issues, dependencies, and stakeholders, provide clear reporting and assurance, and ensure that technical solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and in line with agreed quality standards and business outcomes. In addition, you will bring solid technical knowledge of IP networking, VoIP, SIP, Voice Recording, and Session Border Controllers (SBCs), as well as experience coordinating Airwave and CAD system interfacing and managing system upgrades through formal project controls. You will balance technical complexity with delivery discipline, ensuring that solutions are integrated effectively within operational environments. A clear understanding of ESN architecture is also essential, including familiarity with MCX and LTE/4G/5G mobile networks. You will apply this knowledge to support informed decision‑making throughout the project lifecycle, considering factors such as coverage, capacity, QoS, latency, and resilience, while driving delivery in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment aligned to programme‑level outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering critical technical capabilities, where your leadership and project management expertise will directly contribute to successful outcomes in a high‑impact and strategically important environment.
