The Role & Key Responsibilities:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Sussex Police Road Safety Team as a Casualty Reduction Team Administrator. Joining a busy and friendly specialist team you shall routinely communicate with a significant number of internal and external partners and stakeholders by managing reports from Operation Crackdown. Operation Crackdown is Sussex Police's third-party reporting system that enables members of the public to report Anti-Social Driving/Riding and Minor Traffic Offences and administers letters generated through Community SpeedWatch activities. From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference. It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe. This role is constantly evolving and is perfect for someone looking to make the roads of Sussex safer.
- Review and process reports on Antisocial Driving/Riding and Minor Traffic Offences, as received through Operation Crackdown.
- Triaging reports as appropriate and making decisions as to disposal outcomes and onwards referral for prosecution.
- Create referral and intelligence reports as appropriate to the Fatal Five Unit, Road Policing, Neighbourhood Policing, and other relevant Teams.
- Deal with all correspondence related to Antisocial Driving/Riding and Minor Traffic Offences, including complaints following actions taken with Operation Crackdown.
- Administration of the Operation Crackdown website ensuring that templates, transaction codes and source data are maintained and up to date.
- Work alongside the Community SpeedWatch Coordinator reporting any potential issues/risks any faults that occur within the Operation Crackdown system to the relevant department in a timely manner.
- Responsible for building prosecution case files as appropriate to support the Casualty Reduction Team and provide most efficient use of resources.
- Attend court when required to do so as part of the prosecution process.

- Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence and ability to negotiate and influence others through verbal and written communication effectively and professionally.
- Ability to independently analyse problems, exercise own judgement in a consistent manner and make sound decisions within the confines of legislation and agreed procedures.
- Strong organisation skills and the ability to work under pressure, have a methodical approach to work, and meet competing deadlines.
- Able to use a range of IT packages, systems, and databases to fulfil role requirements.
- Experience in writing concise reports and statements whilst maintaining close attention to detail to inform and update others.
- Demonstrate personal responsibility, managing own workload with minimal supervision.
- Work effectively in a team to achieve shared objectives, demonstrating awareness of individual differences and providing support as required.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Proficient in all Microsoft applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Must be capable of absolute discretion in handling matters of a personal, sensitive and confidential nature.
- It is desirable for the applicant to have previous experience in Road Traffic Legislation or enforcement.
