Were you a successful, professional PIP2 accredited DC? Did you thrive on managing investigations from start to finish and enjoy the ownership and satisfaction of seeing a job through to the very end? Are you looking to rejoin as a Detective Constable? We’re looking for experienced and committed investigators to form part of our exciting new policing model and be at the very heart of some of our most serious and high profile investigations. We currently have a variety of vacancies across the main investigation bases of Reigate, Guildford and Staines. These locations host local specialist CID, Child abuse teams and Domestic abuse teams with the addition of a force-wide Sexual Offences Investigation Team.

Rejoiners will, after 18 months, be able to apply for other specialist opportunities in the same way as existing Surrey DC’s. For example, Surrey and Sussex have joint Major Crime Team, and Serious and Organised Teams, as well as there being DS roles in teams such as Complex Abuse Unit and Paedophile online investigation team.

Skills & Experience

We offer a wide range of benefits including a healthcare programme, gym classes and flexible working. The Regional allowance for Surrey Police is £3000 per annum (paid monthly) and upon joining you’ll also be eligible for a fuel allowance (£76.67 per month). Substantive Detectives, in a DC-DCI detective role, who meet the eligibility criteria can claim £850 per annum (pro-rata), paid monthly. Substantive Detectives in specified posts can claim an additional £500 per annum (pro-rata), paid monthly. This applies to DC to DI in the following teams; Sexual Offences Investigation Team (SOIT), Police Online Investigation Team (POLIT), Complex Abuse Unit (CAU), Child Abuse Team (CAT) and the Domestic Abuse Team (DAT).

  • Have been a substantive officer (at appropriate rank) and not subject to a probationary period
  • Have served as a police officer in a Home Office Force
  • Pass the necessary vetting, occupational health, fitness and referencing checks; such checks will not be carried out until after a successful interview
  • Have no outstanding discipline, integrity or performance issues
  • Have resided in the UK for three years immediately prior to submitting your application, or be able to provide a certificate of good conduct from the relevant country
  • Have a full UK manual driving licence, with less than 6 penalty points
  • Not be a current or previous member of a proscribed terrorist organisation or group
  • Declare any business interest
  • Declare any membership or involvement with the reserve Forces
  • Not have tattoos which could cause offence
  • Not have any existing County Court Judgements (CCJs) outstanding against you or have registered bankrupt and not have been discharged for at least three years
