Operations Command are seeking to recruit Police Officers from Home Office forces who are currently qualified as ARV or who have been ARV qualified in the last three years.

Operations Command works across Surrey and Sussex delivering a service to both forces. Everything we do is driven by the desire to ensure our officers and staff work to serve and protect the public.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

Surrey & Sussex Police deliver a collaborated armed policing service, you will be based at Burpham (Surrey) or Lewes (Sussex) you will be responsible for delivering Armed Policing as part of our ARV’s across Surrey & Sussex.

We also have vacancies based at Gatwick Airport for ARV officers and are also introducing the AFO-CT role profile which is tailored to the unique nature of policing the Airport.

Whatever role or force you apply for; you will have the opportunity to respond to incidents whilst also offering supporting to our colleagues within Operations Command and the wider forces.

Key Responsibilities

Delivering core policing duties and the skills and tactics commensurate with the ARV role profile, in accordance with Authorised Professional Practice, Armed Policing.

(Gatwick only) Conducting high profile armed patrols of Gatwick Airport in response to the current threat to a key part of the UK’s Critical National Infrastructure.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for highly motivated, professional individuals who want to deliver on our force priorities: protect our communities, catch criminals, and deliver an outstanding service to both the public and our colleagues with whom we work daily.

  • ARV Role profile holder or have been within the last 12 months.
  • Advanced Driver
  • Operational Firearms Commander and/or Tactical Advisor operational accreditation, National Firearms Instructor, Drone Operator, Discrete ARV (plain clothes) trained.

You will need to successfully complete the force vetting process to SC status which may take some time to complete; please bear this in mind when applying.

Your training record will be reviewed by the CFI and an appropriate training plan will be implemented based on your individual needs – please get in touch to discuss how this would look for you.
