The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

We are looking to recruit an analytical thinker who enjoys looking at patterns and has a good eye for detail. We want to expand our team of Data and Compliance officers to ensure that we achieve department goals and objectives while developing standards within Sussex Police Control Room.

What we are looking for

  • An individual who will be highly organised and motivated, works well in a team and thrives on attention to detail.
  • This role focuses on quality control.
  • Ideally you will have experience of audit work, and be proficient in the use of Excel and Word.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain quality control on crime and non-crime records
  • Identify and report on matters which require development within systems and processes
  • Support the department’s performance by collating data and presenting findings
  • Review and amend internal policies and guides.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to role

Skills & Experience

  • GCSEs level in English or equivalent
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of using a wide range of IT systems such as Excel and Word.
  • Articulate with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent organisational, planning and prioritising abilities.
  • The ability to effectively negotiate and influence and achieve results.
  • Good Customer Service skills as regular contact will be made with internal and external customers.
  • A detailed knowledge and experience of emergency and non-emergency call handling.
  • Clear understanding of working practices of both Communications Department and the Force would be desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the National Crime Recording Standards (NCRS), National Standards for Incident Recording (NSIR), Home Office Counting Rules (HOCR) and National Contact Management principles.
  • Force IT systems such as SharePoint and specific systems i.e. Crime and Command Control databases, would also be desirable. (Training will be given if required)
