The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference. It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe. In this role you will provide administrative support to the Licensing officers in relation to licensed premises across Brighton and Hove.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update records for licensed premises and licensees using Inn Keeper.
  • Collate information regarding incidents in and around licensed premises and update the licensing officers in order for them to make informed decisions on appropriate action to be taken.
  • Attend weekly Intel meetings and feedback information to team.
  • Liaise with local authorities on licensing applications via telephone and e-mail.
  • Use the national decision making model (NDM) when processing temporary event notices, liaising with the applicant where necessary and informing the relevant local authority.
  • Use PNC and Niche when carrying out checks on prospective licensees and process the admin for all transfers.
  • Process and manage Pedlar licence applications.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties of a similar or lesser graded post.

Skills & Experience

  • The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and have excellent communication skills with the ability to use their own initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Have experience of Microsoft Office programmes specifically Word and Excel.
  • Be willing to learn and operate internal police systems.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Be an active team player.
