The Role & Key Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Crime Management Unit of Sussex Police to join the team as a Crime Management Assistant. Working as part of Corporate Development Department the Crime Management Unit provide vital back office support to officers and staff across Sussex dealing with the administration of reports of crimes and crime related incidents.
The role of crime management assistant is a busy administration role providing a range of crime related admin functions including the updating of crime records and the management of the Force’s crime file storage areas. The department is a small friendly team based at Haywards Heath Police station and offer an open environment with benefits such as flex-time and in house training.
The role of Crime Management Assistant (CMA) has the responsibility of providing a wide range of administration functions all based around the management of crime records ensuring that highest quality of data is always recorded and used to assist with the investigation of offences and provide a high level of victim care. The role requires the accurate updating of confidential data into the Force’s record management system (NICHE) including updating the location and progress of crime files, adding additional information such details of offenders charged and updating additional information provided by officers and staff, you will also be required to review information recorded by officers and staff on the system for accuracy. The role also has responsibility for the management of the crime file storage area ensuring files are added correctly and retrieving paperwork when required by colleagues. The successful post holder will also be required to offer telephone assistance to officers and staff in Sussex and other Forces in relation to crime management and recording on the NICHE system, however full internal training will be given in both areas.
Skills & Experience
- GCSE grade C or above or equivalent in English
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good keyboard skills and be competent in the use of Information Technology in particular the Microsoft Office suite of products
- The ability to work as part of a motivated team
