We are a criminal justice charity based in Lewes, East Sussex, working in prisons and the community with the aim of reducing offending behaviours and empowering ex‑offenders to make positive life choices.
As a charity, we have experienced significant growth and innovation over the past 17 years, gaining new contracts and additional funding across all areas of our work, with an impressive doubling of our income in the last five years. The future is equally exciting as we deliver our plan to introduce a supported accommodation service to recent prison‑leavers which will complement and enhance our existing work. We have a track record of success in all areas of our work as we support individuals to lead law‑abiding and productive lives.
We need Trustees who are interested in people and who want to help us make a real difference to individuals and the community.
Our Board is made up of individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, all of whom bring diverse experiences and viewpoints, and each of whom contributes to the charity’s ongoing success. We are a cohesive Board where we work well together and enjoy collaborating on our varied work streams. All we ask for is an enquiring mind and a commitment to support our work and our ambitious goals.
Whilst we are open to anyone to apply, and encourage applications from anyone enthused about our work, we would particularly welcome applicants with a background in, or experience of:
- Financial services or accountancy
- Housing/Accommodation services
- Media/Public Relations
- Direct or indirect lived experience of the criminal justice system
As a prospective Trustee of Sussex Pathways, you would be joining a diverse and enthusiastic Board, each of whom contributes to a breadth of experience that supports the work of the charity. We are now seeking at least two new Trustees to support our ongoing work and our future development. While an enquiring mind and a commitment to support our work and our ambitious goals are essential, we would particularly welcome applications from those with a background in, or experience of, any of the following areas:
- Financial services or accountancy – to advise on financial profiling and to support our Admin Officer.
- Housing/Accommodation services – to support the charity’s newly appointed accommodation manager.
- Media/Public Relations – to help broaden our reach and raise our profile with a wider audience.
- Direct or indirect lived experience of the criminal justice system – to help ensure our Board and our work are informed by the realities faced by those we support.
