LSIP Overview: Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIPs) were introduced in the Skills for Jobs White Paper in January 2021 and now form an integral part of the Skills and Post-16 Education Act 2022. They are a key part of the Government’s transformational vision of the skills system where businesses, particularly SMEs, are given a much stronger voice in local skills planning. The plans will help ensure provision is more responsive to emerging and changing skills needs and being locally driven, can be tailored to the challenges and opportunities most relevant to the area. Sussex Chamber of Commerce is the Employer Representative Body for the Sussex & Brighton LSIP – Future Skills Sussex.
The Role: We are seeking a highly organised and proactive individual to join our team as a Project Coordinator, supporting the delivery of the LSIP as we move into the new phase of delivery with the LSIP report and action plan 2026-2029. This is a dynamic and collaborative role, working closely with employers, training providers, and key stakeholders to help drive regional skills priorities. The role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that support workforce development and economic growth.
- Provide direct support to the LSIP Lead in the coordination and delivery of LSIP activity, ensuring priorities and timelines are effectively managed.
- Support the planning and implementation of LSIP projects and action plan activity, helping to translate strategic priorities into delivery.
- Act as a key coordination point across the LSIP team, supporting communication, organisation, and alignment of activity.
- Liaise with employers, training providers, and stakeholders to support engagement activity and ensure effective follow-up and continuity, to include linkages between the work of Sussex Chamber and the LSIP activities.
- Monitor progress against LSIP priorities and project milestones, supporting the preparation of updates, reports, and briefings.
- Identify and escalate risks, challenges, and delivery issues, working with the LSIP Lead to support solutions and maintain momentum.
- Provide flexible, high-quality project and operational support across LSIP delivery, adapting to emerging priorities and requirements.
Main Duties:
- Programme & Project Coordination
- Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of LSIP programmes and initiatives.
- Track project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure deadlines are met.
- Coordinate cross-functional activities between internal teams and external partners.
- Prepare project documentation, updates, and status reports.
- Support the completion of Monthly reports linked to funding.
- Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key point of contact for stakeholders including employers, training providers, and partners.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across the LSIP network.
- Coordinate meetings, workshops, and engagement sessions.
- Ensure clear communication and follow-ups with stakeholders.
- Manage the LSIP CRM, updating contacts as required and ensuring lists are up to date.
- Operations & Administrative Support
- Provide high-level administrative and operational support to LSIP Lead.
- Manage calendars, meetings, and logistics for LSIP-related activities.
- Organise and maintain documentation, systems, and processes.
- Improve operational workflows to increase efficiency.
- Data, Reporting & Insights
- Collect, track, and manage data related to LSIP activities and outcomes.
- Produce reports, dashboards, and summaries for internal and external use.
- Support analysis of skills gaps, employer needs, and programme impact.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance requirements are met.
- Event & Workshop Coordination
- Plan and arrange stakeholder events, roundtables, and workshops.
- Manage logistics including scheduling, materials, and communications.
- Support facilitation and capture key outputs and actions.
- Strategic & Business Support
- Support the implementation of LSIP priorities and strategic objectives.
- Assist with research and data analysis.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and programme delivery.
- Provide general business support to leadership where needed.
Person Specification:
- ~3 years’ experience in a similar role as a Senior Administrator, Project Coordinator or Office Manager.
- Strong planning, organisational, and prioritisation skills.
- Interest in the skills issues affecting the business community.
- An understanding of the education and skills system would be desirable.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent IT skills, especially SharePoint, Excel and Microsoft applications.
Key Skills Required:
- Excellent communicator in both verbal and written mediums.
- Research and fact-finding abilities.
- Expert in Office365, Microsoft Word, Excel.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
