Due to our continued growth, we are seeking an OTC Derivatives Middle Office Lead to join our expanding London office. Reporting to the Head of Trading Operations, you will lead the operational support and strategic management and continued development of the OTC Derivatives business. We are looking for a commercially focused senior product manager who can combine deep expertise, middle office leadership, business management, and operational oversight to ensure the effective delivery of product and trade lifecycle management.
You will lead and develop the Middle Office team, translating the OTC Derivatives strategy and evolving business priorities into clear performance goals, individual accountability and measurable delivery and business impact. You will support trading in close collaboration with Compliance, Technology, Treasury, Finance, Legal and Risk regionally and globally as well as external counterparties ensuring alignment across the end-to-end product lifecycle while maintaining strong controls and operational resilience.
What you will be doing:
- Product and Trade Lifecycle Management
- Oversee the complete lifecycle of exotic OTC products from execution through settlement.
- Ensure accurate trade capture, booking, validation, lifecycle event processing and trade maintenance.
- Manage corporate actions, collateral processes, financing events, cash, and position management activities.
- Oversee reconciliations with broker, counterparties, and internal systems.
- Drive efficient exception management and issues resolution across all supported products.
- Partner with Treasury on liquidity and cash optimization managing eligible collateral and collateral postings and produce outflow projections based on lifecycle events.
- CSA / ISDA & collateral documentation oversight: Ensure we are accounting for margin timing, thresholds, and haircuts in CSA, ISDA and PB documentation in our workflow.
- Middle Office and Trade Support
- Provide first-line operational support to trading desk.
- Maintain robust controls across trade capture and booking, trade validation, collateral management, prime broker relationships, counterparty management, settlements oversight, cash and position controls.
- Ensure operational stability and support business growth initiatives.
- Product Governance and Business Management
- Function as the product aligned operational lead for OTC products.
- Partner closely with Trading, Legal, Treasury, Finance, Technology and Compliance functions regionally and globally.
- Lead operational readiness for new products, markets, clients, and strategic initiatives.
- Drive product onboarding and business expansion initiatives.
- Financial Performance
- Calculate and explain daily, monthly, and quarterly P&L.
- Perform P&L attribution and explain drivers of trade and financing costs.
- Analyse margin utilization, funding costs, capital usage, balance sheet usage, return on capital, RWA usage.
- Risk Management and Controls
- Maintain a strong operational and risk control framework (RCSA).
- Identify, assess and mitigate operational, settlement, valuation, and counterparty risks.
- Lead root cause analysis and remediation of operational incidents.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and internal policies.
- Technology & AI
- Identify opportunities to automate and digitize operational workflows.
- Partner with technology teams to define requirements and implement strategic solutions to enable scale and drive automation and efficiency.
- Enhance scalability, efficiency, and control effectiveness.
- Stakeholder Management
- Build strong working relationships across Trading, Compliance, Legal, Treasury, Technology, Finance, Risk and Tax both regionally and globally, driving alignment, partnership, and effective delivery across the OTC Derivatives business.
- Manage relationships with Prime Brokers, Clearing Brokers, and Counterparties.
- Leadership and People Management
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of Trade Support and Middle Office professionals, translating business strategy and changing priorities into clear team and individual performance goals and accountabilities.
- Drive delivery and business impact in a fast-moving, complex environment, adapting team priorities and ways of working as business needs evolve.
- Manage individual performance and development, setting clear expectations and providing regular feedback and coaching to strengthen capability.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on operational excellence, accountability, continuous improvement and delivery against changing business needs.
- Lead the resolution of complex operational, valuation, lifecycle and product-related issues, bringing together the right stakeholders and ensuring clear ownership, timely decision-making and sustainable outcomes.
What we're looking for:
- 7+ years' progressive experience in OTC operations with demonstrated growth in scope and responsibility.
- Proven people leadership experience, with a track record of translating business strategy and evolving priorities into clear team and individual performance goals, accountabilities and measurable business outcomes in a fast-moving, complex environment.
- Demonstrated experience building and shaping a high-performing team culture where accountability, collaboration, adaptability and delivery against changing business needs are embedded.
- A strong track record of managing performance and developing capability through clear expectations, regular feedback, coaching and targeted development, strengthening both individual and collective performance.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- In-depth knowledge of trade lifecycle, market conventions, collateral and margin management, with direct experience across multiple product types, including exotic OTC trades.
- Understanding of the regulatory environment in which OTC products exist.
- Clear and confident communicator, able to explain complex issues to a range of audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to build trusted relationships across the business, both regionally and globally.
- Able to deliver effectively in a fast-moving, complex environment, balancing competing priorities while maintaining strong standards of control.
- Knowledge of SQL, VBA and Python would be highly regarded including using AI tools.
