An opportunity exists for a Co-location Operations (ColoOps) engineer to join our Low Latency Trading ColoOps Infrastructure Technology team based in London, reporting into the Dublin Infrastructure Technology team. As part of a multi-skilled team, you will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day running of our Colocation sites in London and mainland Europe. Experience working in financial trading exchange specific Data Centres is necessary for this role. Flexibility is required for the purposes of both travel and collaborating with core trading business hours. You will also be required to travel to our Dublin office, if not based in Dublin, from time to time to build up your knowledge of the Susquehanna low latency Trading infrastructure and requirements for our Colo buildouts.
What you can expect:
- Your main focus will be on working on the day-to-day onsite operations and optimisations in our trading venues.
- The successful Engineer will help grow and optimise Susquehanna's trading footprint and Data Centre presence in London and mainland Europe.
- You will help implement the fit out and management of new data Centre infrastructures as well as make improvements and upgrades to the current environment based on Susquehanna’s low latency trading R&D driven enhancements coming from Dublin.
- Support the day Colo team on site and plan and prepare for the next Colo visit, resolving issues, closing out on JIRAs and supporting planned maintenance.
- You will follow ColoOps installation processes and procedures to ensure that all Racking & Cabling of hardware within cabinets is completed to a high standard.
- Respond to all relevant trading colocation related issues and perform regular scheduled out of hours maintenance window activities.
- Receipt, tracking and deployment of server and network hardware.
- Documentation of Colo infrastructure.
- Follow and implement processes and procedures that improve stability, performance and availability.
- Liaise with Dublin Low Latency Trading R&D (EMO) team to deliver solutions from our Dublin lab to our production trading colos.
- As a ColoOps team member you will be responsible for ensuring projects and plans are delivered to agreed scope, milestones and budgets.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively across all departments within Susquehanna.
- Planned travel to other European Data Centre locations to aid in capacity expansion and new Trading colo projects.
- On-call is expected as part of the role.
What we’re looking for:
- Technical Degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience working within a high availability & high security Data Centre environment.
- Data Centre, Network and Server installation and support in troubleshooting and break-fix experience.
- Experience following and maintaining Data Centre industry best practices.
- Cable management to an extremely high standard, specific to low latency trading.
- Measurement of optic fibres using Optical measurement tools.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Data Centre documentation and asset tracking.
- Arista, Cisco or equivalent network hardware experience.
- Knowledge of power distribution systems.
- Some knowledge of hardware monitoring systems would be advantageous.
- Ability to plan and complete tasks with minimal direction.
- Ability to work at heights and lift server & network hardware regularly.
- Familiarity with Linux to advanced user or basic administrator level.
- Familiarity with Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 to advanced user or basic administrator level.
- Ability to perform basic port configuration on switches.
- A valid passport is required for the purpose of travel within the EU.
