Susquehanna is a global quantitative trading firm powered by scientific rigor, curiosity, and innovation. Our culture is intellectually driven and highly collaborative, bringing together researchers, engineers, and traders to design and deploy impactful strategies in our systematic trading environment. To meet the unique challenges of global markets, Susquehanna applies machine learning and advanced quantitative research to vast datasets in order to uncover actionable insights and build effective strategies. By uniting deep market expertise with cutting‑edge technology, we excel in solving complex problems and pushing boundaries together.
At Susquehanna, quantitative researchers drive innovation from the centre of our trading floor. Leveraging expertise in probability, statistics, numerical analysis, stochastic optimisation, and machine learning, they play a pivotal role in developing and refining our trading strategies. We are looking for PhD and research master’s students in their penultimate year of study to join our 10‑week quantitative research summer internship. Run by a team of dedicated senior traders and quantitative researchers, our education programme is widely recognised as being the best in the industry. Don’t worry if you don’t come from a finance background – we will teach you everything you need to succeed.
A core strength of our internship is that our classroom‑based education is complemented by hands‑on trading games and project work. Interns are immersed in a real‑world algorithmic trading problem, learning about our proprietary dataspaces, novel modelling approaches, and strategy implementation. Join us this summer to see why so many interns decide to return for a full‑time career in quantitative research.
What we’re looking for:
- Research‑minded: You enjoy diving deep into a question and building mathematical models to reveal patterns in vast amounts of data.
- Analytical & detail‑oriented: You approach problems with a curious and analytical mindset – building models, interpreting data, and uncovering insights with precision.
- Clear communicator: You enjoy building relationships with those you work closely with and are comfortable sharing ideas, expressing your thoughts, and listening to the views of others.
- Class of 2026 or 2027: You’re a PhD or research master’s student in the penultimate year of study, majoring in a quantitative discipline.
Depending on availability, successful interns will be invited to join the programme either immediately after the completion of the internship, or in January or September 2027.
What’s in it for you:
- Education: Throughout the internship you will attend classes covering a vast range of topics (Options Pricing, Machine Learning, Data Analysis Techniques, Game Theory… the list goes on!) from some of the most experienced employees in Susquehanna.
- Collaboration: You will get to work with a wide range of people in the classroom and through your project work; people who share a passion for mathematics, problem‑solving, game theory, and technology.
- Culture: Our non‑hierarchical, casual, and collaborative culture allows employees of every level to thrive.
- Perks: We offer a highly competitive compensation package to our interns. Located in Ireland’s Financial Services Centre, in the heart of Dublin’s city centre, our office features free onsite catering, a games room, and a fully equipped in‑house gym. Throughout the summer, interns enjoy weekly social events. For those joining us from outside Dublin, we also provide accommodation for the duration of the internship.
Our Summer Internship is 10 weeks and runs from late June to late August. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Ireland. Susquehanna is an equal opportunity employer, and we are committed to diversity and inclusion throughout our recruitment process. If you need assistance and/or a reasonable accommodation due to a disability during the application or recruitment process, please contact us.
