About SushiSushi
SushiSushi is an established Japanese food import business with 18 years in the market. We supply Michelin-starred restaurants, luxury hotels, and premium distributors across the UK, alongside a growing direct-to-consumer business via e-commerce and Amazon. We’re a small, high-trust team with ambitious growth plans, including expansion into large supermarket retail.
The Role
As Operations Manager, you’ll take full ownership of the daily operations of the business. You’ll be the central point of coordination across people, systems, compliance, inventory, and product launches - ensuring everything runs smoothly, on time, and to standard. The CEO focuses on sourcing products and wholesale relationships. Everything else sits with you. This role requires autonomy, decisiveness, and transparency. You’ll be trusted to operate independently while keeping leadership clearly informed.
What You’ll Do
- Manage in-house staff and external specialists (Amazon, Shopify, PPC, marketing)
- Own UK food compliance, H&S, and SALSA accreditation
- Plan and control inventory and imports from Japan
- Reduce import lead times from ~100 to ~75 days
- Own new product launches end-to-end
- Maintain systems, improve processes, and support future scale (ERP / 3PL)
What We’re Looking For
- Operations experience in food import, FMCG, or distribution
- Strong UK food compliance knowledge (labelling, allergens, customs)
- SALSA or BRC experience
- Amazon operational experience
- Confident, autonomous, and comfortable holding people accountable
Package
£35,000 salary
Up to £5,000 performance bonus (quarterly, KPI-based)
