General Manager, Sushi Sushi Limited, Chapeltown, Sheffield S35 2PS

£40,000 plus electric company car. On site, Monday to Friday. Start January 2027.

Sushi Sushi imports premium Japanese ingredients for professional kitchens.

Since 2007 we have grown from a blog to more than 600 products, a team of six, our own containers from Japan, a Sheffield warehouse, trade accounts with six of the UK's ten three-Michelin-star restaurants, Amazon Vendor Central and our own online shop.

Trustpilot rates us 4.9 out of 5.

The founder is stepping back from the day to day to build the next venture.

We need one person on site who runs the company every day: the warehouse and order pipeline, imports and stock, customer service and credit control, compliance, the team and the weekly numbers.

What you will do

  • Run the daily operation: every order picked, packed and dispatched the same day; Amazon paperwork raised on the day of shipping; nothing left unexplained.
  • Lead a small team and work in it: a full-time warehouse manager, an operations supervisor four days a week, a part-time import specialist, three part-time packers and a bookkeeper two days a week.

You take the customer service, order admin and purchasing paperwork yourself; this is a hands‑on role, not a manager of managers.

  • Run stock and containers: the container calendar, receipts, best‑before control, aged stock down, landed costs right, order proposals ready for the founder to approve.
  • Own customer service and cash collection: the trade inbox, new accounts, the debtor book, the Friday payment run prepared for release.
  • Keep us compliant: HACCP, SALSA, health and safety, labelling, the site and its contracts.
  • Send the founder one page of numbers every Monday, and run the business through our task system and AI workers rather than around them.

What stays with the founder: money, prices, supplier terms and the Japan partnerships. You prepare each for a one-word answer.

  • You will have
  • 5 or more years running a physical operation with stock, orders and a team (warehouse, wholesale, import, food, e-commerce).
  • Line management of at least 3 people, and a record of taking a loose operation and making it run on time.
  • Fluency with a stock and order system and a spreadsheet. Brightpearl, Amazon Vendor Central, food safety or import experience are strong advantages.
  • A home within about 45 minutes of Chapeltown (M1 junction 35) and a full driving licence.
  • The temperament to decide on site, write things down, and tell the owner the truth.

Package

£40,000 a year, electric company car, workplace pension, 28 days' holiday including bank holidays, on‑site parking. A bonus against cash recovered may be added; ask at interview.
