Plan UK’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) adviser is located in the Quality Assurance, Impact Learning (QAIL) unit, one of four units in our Programmes Department. The adviser will provide technical and thought leadership to all Plan departments, particularly in relation to the design, development and submission of new fundraising proposals, and help build our WASH programme portfolio. They will help develop the technical skills of programme officers and others in Plan to ensure quality delivery of WASH programming, and that current good practice and innovative approaches are reflected in all stages of project cycle management. They will also develop effective monitoring and evaluation processes that capture the outputs, outcomes and impact of our work. Where necessary the adviser will also provide technical support and capacity building to country office staff to ensure the successful delivery of projects and programmes. In doing so they will engage with Plan International’s global advisory capacity to ensure strategic alignment of WASH work around the organisation, and that good practice is shared across the wider Plan federation, and with outside organisations.

Required Experience

  • Masters’ degree in a WASH‑related subject and significant experience designing or providing technical advice to WASH programmes in developing countries, ideally with a focus on children and youth.
  • Successful teamwork experience in a multi‑country, multi‑cultural and multi‑disciplinary context.
  • Experience living and working in developing countries and working closely with local partners or country office staff (additional bonuses).

This is a 7 month maternity contract.
