Public Area Cleaner to join our hotel team at Thatchers Hotel, Guildford.

Thatchers Hotel is a charming Tudor-style property set in the heart of the Surrey countryside.

Featuring 87 guest rooms, two meeting and function rooms, and a newly refurbished bar and restaurant.

As a Public Area Cleaner, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, presentation, and hygiene of all guest-facing and communal areas across the hotel.

Your work will help create a positive first impression and ensure high standards are maintained at all times.

What you will be doing as our

Public Area Cleaner

  • Cleaning and maintaining reception areas, lobbies, lounges, corridors, stairways, public toilets, and meeting rooms.
  • Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, and sanitising designated areas.
  • Ensuring washrooms are clean, stocked, and presentable throughout the day.
  • Emptying waste bins and disposing of rubbish in line with hotel procedures.
  • Replenishing cleaning supplies, toiletries, and consumables.
  • Reporting maintenance issues and health and safety concerns promptly.
  • Using and storing cleaning equipment safely and correctly.
  • Supporting deep cleaning projects when required.
  • Responding professionally to guest requests.
  • Working closely with colleagues across departments to maintain exceptional hotel standards.

  • Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Friendly, professional, and guest-focused attitude.
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible to work various shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Knowledge of COSHH and cleaning chemicals is advantageous.
