Role Description
This is a hands-on role, perfect for someone who is passionate about sustainability and doesn't mind getting stuck into both reporting and administrative tasks. You will play a key part in supporting our sustainability initiatives across the business, ensuring we meet internal targets and comply with external reporting requirements.
- Support the collection, tracking, and analysis of sustainability data and business measures.
- Strong working knowledge of SBTi, Net Zero Targets, SECR (Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting), EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility), and ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme) frameworks.
- Proven experience in sustainability reporting, carbon accounting, and regulatory compliance within the UK.
- Experience with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 14001) and environmental management systems.
- Maintain and update internal sustainability reports.
- Respond to external reporting requests, including ONS surveys and industry data requests.
- Assist with ad-hoc projects and initiatives that drive sustainability across the business.
- Coordinate inputs for external sustainability disclosures across the Annual Report and other sustainability reporting outputs, ensuring clear ownership, timelines, and quality control.
- Collect, validate, analyse, and interpret sustainability data and narrative inputs from business units and corporate functions to produce verifiable, quality reporting.
- Prepare content aligned to applicable standards and frameworks (including ASRS and relevant international frameworks) and support the uplift of disclosure maturity over time.
- Support with sustainability issues, including waste management and recycling, energy usage and carbon reduction, transport and travel, nature protection and biodiversity.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accuracy and consistency in sustainability information.
- Workplace climate advocacy.
- Carry out any other duties reasonably assigned which are commensurate with the role.
Qualifications
- Experience in sustainability strategy development, environmental management, and process improvement.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance standards.
- Research, data analysis, and reporting skills related to sustainability trends and metrics.
- Strong leadership, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement and presentations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and sustainability reporting tools.
- Passion for sustainability and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
- Experience in the food industry or similar sectors is a plus.
Salary range from £26,500 - £40,000 dependant on skills / experience.
