Your New Role
Working within the Materials, Processes and Testing (MP&T) team, you will play a key role in material analysis and testing. You will learn and obtain experience in mechanical engineering and textiles. You will work with a multi‑disciplined team of engineers to test and validate materials supporting Beaufort’s world leading safety solutions. Organised and multi‑disciplined engineers will thrive in this role and enjoy the day‑to‑day variety it offers.
What You Can Expect from the Role
- Manage/maintain/operate a range of equipment proficiently including but not limited to: Tensile tester, hydrostatic tester and humidity chambers.
- Develop, execute, and report on test plans, with the opportunity to participate as a test subject when safe.
- Develop and implement SOPs for standard and bespoke processes.
- Manage multiple ongoing projects concurrently, meeting stakeholder needs whilst adhering to deadlines.
- Identify process inefficiencies and contribute to continuous improvement across engineering systems and practices.
- Promote and uphold a safety‑first culture throughout all activities.
- Engage in professional development through formal & informal training, including self‑led learning and mentoring.
- Stay up to date on relevant technologies, regulations, and industry best practices.
Required Skills & Competencies
- A strong and demonstrable interest in science, engineering, and technology.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, consistently meeting commitments.
- Analytical thinker who can interpret complex and sometimes conflicting data to solve problems effectively.
- Excellent communicator, adaptable to various audiences.
- Collaborative team player with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Experience in material testing with a focus on textiles and/or mechanical testing.
- Familiarity with efficient engineering processes and best practices.
Experience and Qualifications
- University Degree level in an engineering discipline e.g. Mechanical or Materials, or a related discipline.
- High School/Further Education College with 2 A levels and a proven interest in science or engineering.
