Surrey Wildlife Trust (SWT) is looking for an Operations Manager to play a critical role in the ongoing development of Surrey Biodiversity Information Centre (SBIC). The successful candidate will manage and motivate a small team, develop critical partnerships to extend the recording network across Surrey, maintain service delivery and work systematically to achieve the objectives of the SBIC Business Plan currently under development. They will be responsible for the day‑to‑day management and operation of SBIC, supporting the SBIC Strategic Lead in achieving and maintaining the status of SBIC as an accredited Local Environmental Records Centre (LERC) and as a member of the Association of Local Environmental Records Centres (ALERC).
A relevant environmental qualification is essential together with a professional background in nature conservation, supervisory or team management skills and knowledge and experience of the work of a local environmental records centre. The candidate should demonstrate excellent administration and organisational skills, be enthusiastic and self‑motivated, with an ability to work systematically either as an individual or as part of a team, with thorough attention to detail. Our offices are in Pirbright and near Leatherhead; our hybrid working policy aims to provide a good work‑life balance which can incorporate partial home working whilst having an interesting working environment.
