Overview

Victim and Witness Care Unit Team Leader: This exciting role involves supervising a team of Witness Care Officers. As a first line supervisor, you will train and support the team whose main responsibility is to promote and support victim and witness care throughout the victim and witness journey. You will jointly manage a team of 28 Witness Care Officers to ensure the team delivers a high standard of service provision under the Witness Charter and the Victims Code of Practice. The role includes close partnership working with different Criminal Justice agencies including the Crown Prosecution Service and HMCTS. The successful candidate will assist the Unit Manager with the day-to-day running of the unit, motivating others to perform well, and ensuring a high quality support service is provided to Victims and Witnesses in Surrey and Sussex Police.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of Witness Care Officers and act as a first-line supervisor
  • Train and support the team to promote and deliver victim and witness care throughout the journey
  • Jointly manage a team of 28 Witness Care Officers to meet service standards under the Witness Charter and Victims Code of Practice
  • Foster close partnership working with Criminal Justice agencies including the Crown Prosecution Service and HMCTS

  • Motivate the team to perform to a high standard and ensure a high quality support service for Victims and Witnesses

Qualifications

  • Well-developed interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in leading a team and working in an administrative role
  • IT experience as case management within the unit is computerised
  • Proven ability to prioritise responsibilities and be flexible as part of a team
