Vehicle maintenance volunteers will assist in ensuring that police vehicles are maintained, equipped and presented to a professional standard.
We are looking for talented and inspirational people who put the needs of the public at the heart of everything that they do and who want to make a difference.
The Role & Key Responsibilities
- Cleaning and undertaking basic maintenance checks on police vehicles (e.g. oil, tyre pressure etc.) which will supplement the system of checks that are already in place
- Updating inventories of vehicle equipment and maintaining the vehicle kit to the required standards
- Reporting any damage and/or loss of vehicle equipment
- Highlighting any issues with vehicles to the attention of a supervisor
- Moving vehicles from one location to another (occasionally)
Skills & Experience
Volunteers should demonstrate strong attention to detail and possess good communication skills. They will be asked to work independently as well as with others so initiative and team-working skills will be important. Volunteers will need to hold a full current driving licence. It would be desirable if this licence included the D1 category as well as C1, but this is not essential. Previous experience of vehicle maintenance would be advantageous but again is not essential.
