They use a variety of police systems and technology to gather evidence and identify offenders, collaborating with internal and external partners to protect our communities, catch criminals, and deliver an outstanding service to the public. Surrey Police is looking to recruit to fill PIP1 vacancies across all our investigation teams, based at Reigate, Guildford, and Staines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Joining one of our Investigation teams, you will carry your own workload of crimes for which you are responsible.
  • Your day could involve interviewing a suspect, gathering or reviewing evidence, taking witness statements, collecting items for forensic examination, and creating case files for court.
  • You will see your case through the court trial process, gaining trust from victims and witnesses and keeping them updated throughout the investigation.
  • You will liaise with solicitors, the Crown Prosecution Service, and our partner agencies.

  • This role is challenging and emotionally demanding, requiring resilient individuals who can persevere in the face of adversity.
  • If successful, you must attend a 9-week Investigating Officer course in full, with no annual leave permitted during the course. The next course is anticipated to start in October 2026.
  • This role involves working a mixture of day and evening shifts, including weekends and bank holidays, for which you will receive a role-dependent shift allowance.

Skills & Experience

  • Be educated to GCSE level Maths and English or have equivalent level experience in the role or organisation.
