Overview
Sussex and Surrey Police Digital, Data & Technology (DDaT) are recruiting a full-time Devices Senior Technician primarily based at Surrey HQ, Guildford. The position will require travel both in Force and to our partner Forces where appropriate. This is a third line support role to support the Forces\’ endpoint devices: desktops, laptops, body worn cameras, mobile phones, smartphones, printers, plotters and more. You will be the first point of escalation for the Technicians within the team and be expected to have the knowledge to assist them. You will also be responsible for looking after a number of products and bespoke services specific to the Forces.
Starting salary details: the starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

Responsibilities
- Operational support – Managing incident queues: prioritising and resolving
- Project work – Changing and Improving
- IT and Business led site moves – Organising and assisting across the Forces
- Event support – Including occasional evening and weekend work
- Hardware refresh – Setup, configuration and deployment
- Escalation point for Devices Technicians – Advanced problem solving
- SCCM and Intune – Administration, use and maintenance
Qualifications and experience
- An appropriate qualification or experience in a technical discipline and have worked in an enterprise environment (e.g. HND or accredited training) with proven and well evidenced experience in a technical role within an ICT environment.
- Ability to adapt to and utilise a range of technologies and technical tools.
- Demonstrable knowledge of analytical and problem-solving approaches.
- Demonstrable knowledge of one or more complex technical skills areas.
- Working knowledge of ITIL based ICT operation.
- Excellent communication skills to contribute to informal design and project groups to deliver change and progress key pieces of work.
- Experience of working as part of a team on interdependent projects, acting as escalation point for technical queries, and working independently on a prioritised workload.
- Flexible approach and commitment to personal development within the ICT environment.
- Familiar with portable networked devices and associated operating systems, management systems, carriers and mobile services presented to, or installed on, portable devices.
- Understanding of local encryption, security and identity software, hardware, software and facilities used to make secure connections across untrusted networks including configuration and policy.
- Advanced familiarity with desktop/laptop hardware and peripherals, including operating systems, office applications and other specialist application software installed and operated from end-user devices.
- Understanding of network connectivity and the cabling between desktops/laptops and peripherals, and associated standards including client device management and security systems.
- Exposure to SCCM and Intune and its utilisation as a tool to support the estate.
- Technologies used include Windows 10/11, Microsoft SCCM, Android, Intune and other industry standard mobile device manager solutions, Windows Defender, VPN, 3G/4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth standards and peripherals, laptop and desktop PC hardware, printers and MFDs, external storage devices, scanners, bar code readers, approved client software (e.g. MS Project, MS Visio, Adobe Acrobat), Office365, Edge and other browsers, antivirus solutions, client TCP/IP and networking configuration.
Other requirements
- Ideally a clean driving license as you may need to drive Police fleet vehicles to work in our other locations.
- Need to pass a Police Driving permit.
