The Role & Key Responsibilities
From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference. It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe. The post holder is responsible for driving the coordination of the Force and key partners responses to County / Drug Lines and gang criminality, playing a key role in delivering the Surrey County Lines action plan and the Combating Drugs Strategy. This role will deliver greater awareness, better identification of the cross-cutting themes, and ensure a robust approach to tackling this key strategic threat. The post holder will also co-ordinate activity into and across related threat areas and work closely with the Serious & Organised Crime Officer and the Serious Violence Officer. The post holder will be expected to task internal staff, negotiate activity across BCUβs, and coordinate activities with partner agencies. They will be required to travel within the county, region and other areas in the UK to represent Surrey Police.
- Responsible for the advancement of the force delivery plan in relation to county lines and Drug Harm. Reviewing, and updating force strategy and action / delivery plans. They will report internally and externally of their progress.
- Work directly with key partners to increase awareness about county lines/gangs and identify and promote best practice to be shared across the county. To influence, negotiate and drive operational activity within the police and partners. Ensure any information sharing protocols are in place. Promote the aims and work of partnerships within Surrey.
- To understand the expectations of the various national inspections and returns. Assess, process and gather the required data. Review and analyse and present it to internal and external groups in terms of performance and response i.e. PEEL, NCA, HMICFRS.
- Engage with communities across Surrey who are vulnerable to the activities of county line criminality to better understand the scale and threat. Allowing for the development of strategies to improve our joint approach to this crime type.
- Seek, search out and promote opportunities to increase the drug harm reduction fund.
- Design and deliver training for internal workforce and for key partners and communities. Design and produce supporting literature that supports the action plan, raises awareness and delivers a more effective approach to tackling county lines and gangs.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties of a similar or lesser graded post.
- Represent the Force at Regional or National meetings by having an up to date understanding on the scale and threat posed by county lines and gangs.
- Budgetary Accountabilities: Managing surge funding for County Lines Intensification Weeks.
