We are looking for a vehicle maintenance volunteer to join our policing teams based in Elmbridge. This is a flexible opportunity for volunteers to support our teams in a very practical way!
By becoming a vehicle maintenance volunteer, you will help our teams ensure that police vehicles are maintained, equipped and presented to a professional standard. Once you have completed your initial practical training, you will be asked to commit to a minimum of six hours of volunteering per week between the core business hours of 08:00 and 20:00 Monday to Sunday.
As a vehicle maintenance volunteer, you will be involved in a number of tasks including cleaning and undertaking basic maintenance checks on police vehicles (e.g. oil, tyre pressure etc.) which will supplement the system of checks that are already in place.
Skills & Experience
You will need to have excellent attention to detail and good communication skills. You will be asked to work independently as well as with others, so the ability to work within a team will be important. To apply for this role, you will need to hold a full current driving licence. It would be desirable if your licence included the D1 category as well as C1, but this is not essential. If you have previous experience of vehicle maintenance and/or presentation, that would be advantageous but again this is not essential as training will be provided by your policing team.
Why Volunteer With Us?
We take pride in looking after our volunteers, through volunteering you will have the opportunity to:
- Experience policing first-hand
- Meet new people and teams
- Learn and develop your skills
- Support your local community
We will reimburse any travel expenses you may incur whilst volunteering and we have recognition schemes in place for us to formally show our appreciation for your service. As a police support volunteer you will have access to financial and mental well-being guidance and support, discounts for everyday spend, our on-site gyms and a range of sports clubs. Volunteering with us will also allow you to apply for other voluntary and paid positions within the Force.
