Are you experienced in facilitating learning in the outdoors? Are you looking for a new challenge? Come and join our growing team of Outdoor Learning Instructors at Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development (SOLD).

The salary for this position is £27,634 per annum pro rata (based on a 36-hour working week). We have 6-month fixed-term full-time contracts on offer commencing 1 April 2026. Staff will have a primary base and will be required to work across all centres at times: High Ashurst - Mickleham, Dorking, Surrey, RH5 6DQ; Henley Fort and Angel Blue - Guildford, Surrey, GU2 4RH.

What are we looking for?

  • Previous experience of delivering complex outdoor learning programmes
  • A minimum of two national governing body qualifications relevant to outdoor learning
  • Knowledge and practical experience in delivering high-quality outdoor activities, with a strong understanding of health and safety standards and compliance with national governing body requirements within the outdoor industry
  • An understanding and experience in applying the theory and tools to develop people through outcome-led outdoor and development experiences using plan-do-review
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • A flexible and positive solution-focused approach
  • Archery GB Instructor Award
  • A walking qualification such as Leadership Skills Foundation Mountain Training Lowland Leader or Mountain Leader
  • Mountain bike Instructors' Award Scheme (MIAS), Mountain Bike Leader 2 (MBL2) or British Cycling Mountain Bike Leadership Level 2 Instructor
  • Forest Schools Leader Level 3 or Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL) Bushcraft Competency Certificate
  • Single Pitch Award (SPA) or Climbing Wall Instructor (CWA) or European Ropes Course Association (ERCA) Ropes Course instructor
  • An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be carried out during recruitment
