Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development (SOLD) are delivering alternative learning programmes to children and young people in Surrey. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team as we recruit for a Lead Outdoor Learning Instructor to help deliver our Alternative Learning provision.
About the Job
The salary for this position is £31,659 per annum pro rata (based on a 36-hour working week). This is a 12-month fixed-term position. Staff are required to work across all of SOLD's centres with a primary base at one centre.
About the role
As an experienced Outdoor Learning Instructor, you will be working with a range of groups and individuals on our alternative learning programmes. These are outcome-based learning programmes to support our customers in areas of personal and social development, academic curriculum and employability skills, using the outdoors as a tool for learning. You will use reviewing and reflection tools to ensure our customers benefit positively from participating in outdoor learning. At SOLD we offer our visitors carefully facilitated bespoke programmes in the outdoors, creating positive learning outcomes and experiences. What are we looking for?
- Experience of outcome led programme delivery, and of working with additional needs, Special Educational Needs (SEN), and children and young people at risk of exclusion from school.
- Experience of managing day to day logistics and resources, supporting staff with inductions, training, and ongoing support; ensuring high quality health and safety working conditions and delivery.
- Experience of supporting customers in an alternative learning provision or similar setting.
- Experience of reviewing and providing written feedback to other professional bodies.
- National governing body qualifications relevant to the role.
An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be carried out during recruitment.
